Coastal Cleanup Day
Organized by community and environmental groups, Coastal Cleanup Day is an opportunity for volunteers to join efforts in cleaning up the island’s beaches and coastal areas. This event typically takes place in September and promotes environmental awareness.
Coastal Cleanup Day is open to volunteers of all ages. Individuals, families, community groups, schools, and organizations are encouraged to participate. It’s an excellent opportunity for community engagement and environmental stewardship.
Participants in Coastal Cleanup Day are provided with gloves, trash bags, and other cleanup materials. They are then tasked with collecting and disposing of litter and debris found along the coastline. This effort helps maintain the beauty of the island’s beaches, protect marine life, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
Coastal Cleanup Day often includes educational components, where participants learn about the environmental impact of litter and pollution on coastal ecosystems. This knowledge can inspire individuals and communities to take steps to reduce their environmental footprint.
